Her Zimbabwe an initiative founded by Fungai Machirori in 2012 is holding a 5 day blogging and digital security training for young women from the 23th-27th of March 2015 in Harare .The training is of free charge however the applicants should be aged between 20-30 years, be an entry level journalist (junior reporter or be enrolled into a diploma or degree course with a focus on journalism, media,communication or gender studies
Alternatively, the applicant may be
working as a campaigner or activist with a women’s collective or organization
and have a keen interest in women’s rights and issues
The training seeks to harness the
potential of digital media as well as nurture young women’s digital activism
which will impart skills and knowledge around areas such as, news gathering and
packaging of content for online media, blogging good practice, Practical
blogging as well as digital security.
Her Zimbabwe’s initiative is to
emancipate young women through literacy in digital storytelling and security,
stimulating conversations and amplifying women’s voices online.
Her Zimbabwe’s primary target
audience are Zimbabwean women aged between 20-35 although participation and
contributions are accepted from women of all ages
.
Understanding that outcomes for
women are increased by improving outcomes for society, Her Zimbabwe also
targets men as a secondary audience.
As women’s issues cannot be
separated from those of the men with whom they co-exist as partners, relatives,
friends, work colleagues, the Her Zimbabwe website features a ‘His Zimbabwe’
section which allows men to express their viewpoints and stances on issues to
do with gender and equity.
