Telone is silently digitalising their system as they also roll out fibre to home a move which may soon empower them to offer a converged service as they now have the full infrastructure to their disposal.
Although they are not giving out much detail into how they are digitalising, TechnoMag has it that the areas they are already digitalising are the same areas they are currently trying their new Fibre To Home project.
The nation wide digitalisation project they last took was that from the analogue PTC era to the digital system of Telone brand, and this is certainly not the same digitisation they are undertaking.
In a press statement Telone Announced
Tel•One wishes to advise its valued clients and stakeholders that it has digitalised its RuwaExchange. Ruwa landline numbers will therefore be changing to include a three digit prefix after the area code with effect from 8 March 2015. Please note that the changeover process will cause a service disruption on 6 and 7 March. The numbers will be modified by adding three (3) digits before the existing numbers. Numbers from 2000 – 3999 will now use 213xxxx (current number). The area code still remains 0273.When one is making a call to a Ruwa number, simply dial 0273 213xxxx (current number). If the caller is within Ruwa, simply dial 213xxxx (current number). For Example; If the Ruwa number is currently 0273 2467 the new number will be 0273 2132467.If the caller is within Ruwa and the current number is 2467, the new number will be 2132467.
